Keeping it simple

Socrates once said, “The secret of happiness, you see, is not found in seeking more, but in developing the capacity to enjoy less.”

It has been three months since the Covid-19 lockdown. During this time warp I have asked myself what have I learned from this experience. How has it changed my life?

Prior to Covid I was conditioned to fill my days with activity. I was always on the go and eternally busy. “No rest for the weary”, “Early bird gets the worm” and “Seize the day” were phrases I was all too familiar with.

During the lockdown I had to train myself to slow down. It was a total detox. I hiked, practised yoga and read books, however to my dismay I still had 12 hours left in my day to fill. UGG! Continue reading

As the world turns

I remember as young child my mother used to watch the soap opera “As the World Turns”.  While carefully ironing and folding the family laundry, she tuned in to watched the dirty laundry of others unfold. She was captivated by the drama and chaos, while knowing that she was safe and secure in her own home.

After years of watching her show Mom began relating to the characters as more that just actors. The lines between fantasy and reality were blurred during the one hour show. As the plot thickened, so too did her attachment to the outcome.

It is not unlike the events surrounding us today. We tune into the news and watch the drama and chaos taking place in the world outside. However, this is not a soap opera and many are left wondering how safe and secure they really are.

“Use caution when allowing negative words and ideas from others into your home through media or literature. This negativity will lower the vibration and cripple the spirit through fear.”- The White Angels

Perhaps the answer is in observing without attachment. Distinguishing between what is being reported by the media and what is actually happening in our individual lives is something to consider. Remaining centered and calm amidst the storm, even when outside circumstances are chaotic insures inner peace in time of outer turmoil. Choosing Love Over Fear In Difficult Times

CHOOSING LOVE OVER FEAR IN DIFFICULT TIMES

We are in extraordinary times facing extraordinary challenges. The current pandemic is pushing the pause button on life as we know it. Fear and panic permeate the very air we breathe. All of us are being asked to slow down and stay put. As humanity is stopped in its busy tracks we have the opportunity to reflect on what is truly important to us.

Many of us are feeling the fear being generated by the masses. I joke that a roll of toilet paper is the symbolism that represents this fear but it is not a laughing matter. We can not ignore the feelings of fear but instead face our fears by asking “What is it that I am truly afraid of.”

Spiritual Messenger, Belinda Womack believes that energetically, viruses are manifestations of fear. She states that “Love can stop the fright and transform the virus, but before this story is over, trust that Divine Source WILL find a way to use this world event to create miracles for all concerned.”  Continue reading

Calm my fears about what I see

“Give me the perception to notice the changes taking place inside of me. Help me see them clearly reflected in my environment.
“Take me deep into the hermitage of my spirit to ponder the here and now and for see the coming challenges.
“Purify my filters so that I can understand my connection to all living things, and my place in this Universe.

Love

LOVE IS MY RELIGION

Ziggy Marley made famous the quote, “Love Is My Religion”.

The Beatles simply stated “All You Need Is Love”.

In his song Here to Love, Lenny Kravitz wrote;

“We’re not here to judge

We are here to love

There’s no room for hate

We are just one human race

We must rise above

We are here to love

There’s no time to waste anymore.”

LOVE THE LORD THY GOD WITH ALL THY HEART

So why do we as humans find it so hard to love ourselves and others? The first two commands are all about love. We find in Matthew 22:37-40 The following quote by Jesus,

“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.” Continue reading

Unlimited Possibilities

The beginning of each new year brings a momentum for positive change, a vital energy surge of new beginnings and fresh starts. It is an auspicious time to act upon our dreams and desires and manifest their reality. 2020 is a year to build your dreams and set the foundation for a new decade.

To lay a proper foundation we must clear away the clutter and leave behind any destructive, negative thoughts of self-doubt, fear or anger. There is no room in the new year for regret or disappointment for these emotions will only prevent you from moving forward. Let go of the past through forgiveness and love.

“The past can not hold you back nor the future intimidate you.” Brother Chidananda

We each possess limitless potential to create the life we want to live. Each of us have been given divine gifts of the power of thought and will to take charge of our lives. By consciously choosing our thoughts and actions we begin to master our destiny. Once we recognize the vast and boundless potential of our souls, all things are possible. Continue reading

Finding Joy in Chaos

I recently came across an instagram post that said I asked the universe to keep all the low frequency people away from me, now I am in a dark room with incense, sage and crystals talking to myself! @lawofattraction

I knew this message was directed to me!  You see, the past five years I have spent much of my time in my meditation room. I was content in that vibration and felt little need to immerse myself in the world around me apart from my work with OmKari Angel and Positivichi.

This quiet and peaceful lifestyle changed drastically a few months ago when I was compelled to take a part-time job working for a major airline. I found myself in an atmosphere that was very foreign to me. Immersed in constant and relentless energy, I was depleated at the end of the day feeling very disconnected from Source.

Retreating to my meditation room where I found solitude from the chaos,  I asked God and the angels why I was putting myself through this experience. The message was very clear…It is very easy to find joy in the vibration of peace and tranquility. The true test is in finding joy amid the chaos.

“You came to this earth to experience joy.  Joy is the very essence of Source.  Joy is found in service to others.  It is found in the process of creation and expansion.  To be joyful is to be in alignment with God, Source, and the universal consciousness.” -The White Angels

Yin and Yang-Finding Balance

The ancient yin yang symbol represents harmony and balance in nature. The contrasting black, (yin) and white, (yang) remind us that everything in nature is dualistic.  This philosophy dates back more than 3,500 years ago to the I Ching or Book of Changes, which greatly influenced Taoism and Confucianism.

The dualistic principles of yin and yang come in pairs, for example, dark and light, hot and cold, male and female, sun and moon to name a few. These opposing forces of energy must co-exist in order to create harmony.  Nothing is completely yin or yang and as a result, there must be a flow in order to achieve balance.

“The universe is the harmony of opposites, because there is no water without fire, there is no female with no male, there is no night without day, there is no sun without the moon…there is no good without evil! This symbol is perfect since the white and black are embracing each other; inside the white there is a black point and inside the black there is a white point.” -Tiziano Terzani

So how do we balance the yin and yang in our lives?  Time appears to be moving faster than ever and for many people life seems to fly by.  Too often we become stressed and overtaxed by our schedules and not able to meet the demands placed upon us. Stress wreaks havoc on our bodies causing fatigue, increased inflammation, lack of sleep, and a weakened immune system for starters.

We can re-establish balance in our lives by taking time to nourish and nurture ourselves. These are my top five favorite ways to restore, replenish, and bring harmony to my body, mind and soul.

  1. Earthing– Stand outside on Mother Earth with bare feet. Earthing is the process of absorbing earths free flowing electrons from it’s surface through the soles of your feet. It is a very effect way to ground.   (See my blog post on grounding for more info.)
  2. Connect with Nature–  Take a walk on the beach, watch the hummingbirds in your backyard, garden, go hiking. Nature is a natural anti-depresant.
  3. Meditate– Spend some alone time in silence. Quiet your mind from all of the Chitta Vritti Nirodha (mind chatter). Focus on your breath, a mantra or the flame of a candle. Give you mind a rest and feel the peace and calm that comes with meditation.
  4. Move your body- It is important to get the chi/prana flowing through your body so make sure you move at least 10-15 minutes a day. My personal favorite is Yin Yoga along with a hike in nature. This combination puts me right again!
  5. Sleep– Getting enough sleep is essential in maintaining overall wellness. If you have difficulty sleeping, begin your bedtime routine earlier and include a warm bath with lavender aromatherapy oil and epson salts. Just before bed listen to Yoga Nidra (Yogic Sleep). You can find Yoga Nidra Guided Sleep Meditations on Youtube.

“Through constant and loving care by daily cleansing, eating high-vibrational foods, drinking an abundance of water and moving the body, the body temple will vibrate at the highest frequency, allowing the soul to expand, grow and accomplish wonderful things.” The White Angels

The only true path to harmony in our lives is through balance. Finding the yin and yang, by nurturing our body, mind and soul allows us to live a happier, healthier and more abundant life.

Never forget

It was a hot August afternoon and I was miserable. When would the pumpkins arrive I thought? I loved everything about fall, including the crisp cool air and shorter days. One more month I told myself as if that was going to make a difference in this sweltering heat.

I was on the hunt for corbels. I didn’t even know what a corbel was until I watched an episode of Fixer-Upper and convinced myself I needed a pair. I became obsessed searching one antique store to another, however the hunt was futile.

Hot and ornerier by the minute I decided to make one last stop. This antique store was a time warp. I felt like I was stepping into my Grandmother Ada’s house. The smell of dusty antiques filled my nose as I took a quick look around. Surrounded by once treasured, but now forgotten trinkets was an elderly woman sitting at a table filled with books.

“My name is Doris” she said as she reached out her hand. “I wrote this book about the Holocaust, I am a surviver. I was 14 years old when they took me to Auschwitz” she continued.  She had my full attention.  Doris began telling her story and tears rolled down my face as I listen intently. Continue reading

Thoughts Create

“Your life is the total accumulation of every thought your think”                -The White Angels

Your life is a reflection of your thoughts. Look around and ask yourself, “What have I been thinking? ”

All of the experiences in your life have been the result of the thoughts in your past. What is important today is to chose carefully every thought you think. Be selective for these thoughts are forming your experiences of tomorrow. The truth is, the thoughts you think in this moment create your future.  Therein lies the power to control your own destiny.

Buddha said, “Watch your thoughts, for they become words.  Watch your words, for they become actions.  Watch your actions, for they become habits.  Watch your habits, for they become character.  Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.” Continue reading
